Over the past ten years there have been a number of studies showing advantages to this procedure which, of course, created frustrations among anti-circumcision groups and individuals. Now, more than ever, they are trying to turn the world against this procedure, and any doctor or lay person who don't share their point of view.
CIRCUMCISION RESOURCE CENTER
The Circumcision Resource Center is a nonprofit educational organization with the purpose of informing the public and professionals about the practice of circumcision. Our mission is to raise awareness and facilitate healing. The Center is a valuable source of circumcision information for parents and children's advocates; childbirth educators and allied professionals; medical, mental health, and academic people; Jews; and others.
International Circumcision Information Reference Centre
The International Circumcision Information Reference Centre exists in order that those seeking information about circumcision (whether for themselves or their sons) may have ready access to accurate medical thinking on the subject. Unfortunately much good material is only available in printed medical journals and cannot be reproduced here by reason of copyright. In some cases a short abstract will be published here with a reference to the complete article in the relevant Journal.Although many of the authors concur with the research which shows that the maximum benefits from circumcision accrue when it is performed in infancy, it is the right and duty of parents to consider individually what they see to be in the best interests of their sons and to act accordingly.
MEDICAL BENEFITS FROM CIRCUMCISION
Circumcision is the removal of a fold of loose skin (the foreskin) that covers the head (glans) of the unerect penis. The amount of this skin varies from virtually none, to a considerable amount that droops down from the end of the flaccid penis. The practice is common amongst many divergent human cultures. A variety of methods are, moreover, used and the amount of foreskin removed also varies.
