Ode to the New Baby
Hey Dallas, what's this? A new smell?
I don't know, Kurri, I can't tell.
It's cuddly and small and coos a lot,
I still don't know - could it be a tot?
That's quite a noise - is that called crying?
My ears aren't used to that - I think I'm dying.
You'll be OK, she's just fussy,
That icky smell tells me she's mussy.
Mommy and Daddy said it's their bundle of joy,
I can't tell if it's a girl or a boy.
Don't you remember? They said we would soon have a sister,
Oh yea, that's right - should tell them we just licked and kissed
her.
Mommy wakes up in the middle of the night,
So she can kiss her and feed her and hold her tight.
She's soft and cute and she smells so sweet,
Kurri, do you think we should give her a treat?
Soon she'll be running with us in the yard,
Dallas, you go play, I'll stand guard.
I wonder what our cousin Carly will think,
The room she used to sleep in is all pink!
Hey Kurri, I know, let's make a pact,
We'll love her forever, that's a fact.
So that she knows we'll always be near,
Let's adore her, protect her, and hold her dear.
