God's light in our child
On the day that you were born,
not too long ago.
I held you close against my chest,
and prayed time would go slow.
On that first Sunday in church,
the first time with our brand new baby. Once a pew that sat husband and wife,
now fit a whole new family.
Your first bath,
was oh so tough.
Mommy had no idea,
about any of that stuff.
On the first night you slept straight thru,
I thought for sure I knew what to do.
"Sleep I said", now that would be smart,
but instead all I could do was watch your little heart.
On your Christening day,
just as the water was poured,
I asked GOD to keep you safe,
"Bless our sweet baby, Lord."
On the first day we played pat-a-cake,
you just wouldn't stop clapping,
and on the day you started to walk,
we just couldn't stop laughing.
When I watch you run and play,
or when you give me that silly smile,
I think to myself how great GOD is,
thru you, he makes life worth while.
I tried to save each memory,
every single one.
I noticed by doing so,
I was missing out on all the fun.
As a mother it's hard to realize,
you will grow so tall.
When I think, it was only yesterday,
in my arms you were just so small.
Every day now, watching you grow,
in YOU, GOD had put his special little glow.
And now all-of-a-sudden,
you are almost two.
I've often heard time flies by fast,
and now I know it's true.
I know someday like a butterfly,
you will be grown and take flight.
Please always remember my dear,
for you,
GOD will forever shine his light.
For Connor and Starrlenna. I pray
every day that you learn that GOD is Love, Laughter, Light, and
Life. Without HIM in your heart you will never feel the above.
