My Daughter My Child
When I held you for the very first time I could not comprehend
How God,in all his Glory To me- a child wold
lend
I thought 'how perfect my little girl" As I examined your
fingers and toes Your sweet and tiny pink colored mouth
And your cute little button nose
How pefect in my eyes you were And how I wanted to keep you
small But, all too soon as the years passed by
You began to grow so tall
We went through all those adolescent tmes
The laughter and the tears The teen years were
about the same And we made it through the years
Now honey, you're a woman With babies of your own
And you too can watch them grow Until they leave your home
And when they leave there's no difference
They'll always be your babies For between a mother
and her child There are never any -maybes
So. on your 21st birthday I just want to
reconfirm and say ' Sweetheart if I had to do it over
again I'd tke you anyday"
I wish you all the best in life And thank God he gave
me You Because perfect daughters Are so rare and few.
