Milestones
Death do not cheat me of the chance to see,
My beautiful daughter grow in front of me.
As one without a mother so long ago,
I know what it means to be all alone.
For still a child she needs me today,
To watch her while she runs and plays.
To kiss her scrapes when she should fall, To watch her grow up strong and tall.
To comfort her when in darkest night,
She should awaken with a sudden fright.
To see her go on her very first date,
To proudly watch her graduate.
To admire her in her wedding gown,
And to watch her have children of her own.
For her to know that I will always be there,
To cherish the memories that we will share.
Oh death, will you please just leave me be,
So that these milestones of her life I can see?
