''The Colors of Summer''
Oh my sweet Summer
Where has your sunshine gone?
With your butter-colored hair
and almond shaped eyes
filled with the colors of a baby-blue sea
you my precious daughter
had come to me,
while streams of pearl-colored tears
fell from your face,
I felt so helpless
I wanted to take your place
I couldn't help but feel
your sorrows, sadness and pain!
For these were the very colors of
lightning, thunder and rain
Oh sweetie don't you know
these are just the storms of life with there ever present hues of blue:
God uses them, you'll see, Each day a stronger me a stronger you...
You are your Daddy's girl
and always you shall be
The Summer's Brightest
Light he will ever see!!!
Remember always to forgive
and seek to understand
sometimes even we parents
need our children to grasp our hand
Mabe then he will remember:
that there were shades of Reds
Purples and Grays,
These were ballet shoes, dresses
recitals and plays
Still to come were baseball parks, and baseball suits,
baseball caps and baseball shoes
the all boys team except for you!!
Summertime bowling leagues
Big brother and you
Don't forget the basketball
and tennis lessons too:
Three years of very competitive soccer
with excellance in team playing
you guys took 1st and 2nd place
city wide as well as state
Seemingly last,
and most certain a best was when our summer sunshine
made track days at the stadium a Fest!!!
Although I had to watch
and participate from a'far
those days were a favorite
Screaming and Shouting
again you were the star
Yes, ribbons and trophys
would seem to be your fate
truth is these acomplishments are really great
yet I am sure God sees a much larger view
on such a colorful plate he has set before you
For he will see the colors of your Heart
Your sweetness and your loyalty
your dedication and drive most of all, he knows you are human
he sent his own son to die for you!
because he Loves you,
so do I
Happy Valentines Day!!
