Then I'll Cry
Then I'll Cry Too soon, the house is quiet.
His room is clean at last.
Childhood days are over
and high school days are past.
He's gone from depths of couch,
snoring by a fire.
He's gone from metal shed,
filled with tools and tires.
He's not back by the pond,
fishing with his dog,
nor is he in the pen,
cleaning after hogs.
He took his clothes, his wheels,
he took his shining smile.
He'll come back for a meal,
but only stay awhile.
Someday he'll fall in love
and then he'll say goodbye.
I'll have a quiet house,
but then I'll sit and cry.
