Flower Beneath The Fence
There is a
flower that grows outside my home beneath a fence
I
can see it's beautiful blooms
It has a scent of
spring that passes through the window screen
Filling
the farthest corners of this room
From
where I sit and watch the flower grow
Sometimes I
admit inside I feel sad
If I was outside in the
garden I'd kneel up close
And count how many petals
it has
Each day I would nurture and water
its roots
The soil beneath it I would toil and
mend
As time moved on and the flower grew
I'd
treasure the moments together we spent
My child
my message to you is simply this
Though I have
to watch you grow from far away
I marvel at your
beauty and appreciate your love
More than mere words
can ever possibly say
I myself was just a
small flower when God brought you into this
world
My roots had not fully grown nor had my blossoms
bloomed
I failed to nurture you as a mother should
My
selfishness had me consumed
Please know in my
heart I have grown and changed
My sense of what is
right and wrong complete
I hope the day will come
where outside this window we gaze
Looking at the
flowers from this same window seat
Never doubt
how much I love you, always know that I care
You
will fill every breath throughout my life I shall
take
I hope you find it in your heart to forgive me my
dearest
For making such terrible mistakes
I cry at
night praying to God
Hoping he will give me a
second chance
Your my child, my love, my truest
joy
Your my flower that grows beneath the fence . .
.
