Sometimes the greatest gifts come to us
in the form of a stranger’s face
By way of a hesitant greeting or a cheerful smile
all wrapped in friendly grace.
Sometimes it takes but a moment
to form a lasting bond
A special look, a few spoken words
by which to make the heart grow fond.
Sometimes people cross our paths
for reasons unknown
A creation of sweet memories
to cherish and carry home.
Sometimes a special miracle happens
which leaves us better than before
Such as the unexpected one
that led you to our door.
Sometimes a lowly stranger
can change our world
For hidden behind a vivacious grin
lies a rare and unique little pearl.
Sometimes mere words can never express
all that we mean to say
For you came to us a stranger
but you leave as our daughter this day!
