The Question

Child: Mommy, why are you so fat?

Mother: Well honey, remember I told you that you were going to have a sister? I’m pregnant.

Child: Where do you get babies?

Mother: Umm…Uhh..Umm…You see there is this bird…big bird…not Big Bird, but a BIG BIRD…no. you see honey Mommy actually has a basketball under her shirt, and when it’s time to get the baby, Mommy gives the doctor the basketball, and the doctor gives Mommy the baby…Ask your father…No, honey wait. When a Mommy and Daddy love each other very much they have a baby. And they love them…forever. (kiss) Now go play.

I Did Not Know

No-one told me that-

being pregnant brought on all these emotions that I didn’t know I had and that I would not feel beautiful all the time (if at all).

That towards the last two months of my pregnancy all I wanted to do was have this baby because I had had enough of being so big, so uncomfortable, breathless (after only walking 5 paces), tired of getting leg cramps in the middle of the night and heartburn.

Although it sounds all negative, it’s not.

The great moments were seeing the first scan and realising that I do have this little life inside me, hearing the first heartbeat and feeling the first movements.

And at the end of it all the wonderful joy of seeing your baby being born.

Surprise

As I write this I am aware
of Feelings Deep of How Much I care

You grow inside me little heart beating strong
though I had my doubts I now know it’s not wrong

You weren’t planned but now I know
how much you are wanted as each day you grow

I pray for your health I ask God each day
to let you be healthy in every way

You aren’t an accident you’re not a mistake
you’re the best of surprises two people could make!

When My Body is Mine

In six months’ time,
When my body is mine
And I can eat what I please

I’ll eat pate and tripe
Drink wine and Red Stripe
And mountains of unpasteurised cheese.

This Day We Conceived You

Baby eyes Darling little sweetie
the world awaits to see you
you are bonded with love the day
me and daddy conceived you
I sit with wonder with you in me

I smile
I fill with hope
If I could create you the way I wanted
I would love you to have all your daddy’s traits
a wonderful man he is

but we added a little of mommy in you to
so I sit in wonder
for the day you will be born
to this loving family that will love you through

Love Mommy and Daddy on this day we conceived you.

Daddy

Hi Daddy I am just a month old,
There is so much about you Mommy has told.

Eight more months I can’t even wait,
I promise you Daddy I won’t be late.

When I come just hold me in your arms,
Then I’ll be safe forever away from all harms.

Mommy says she loves you and me too,
Please understand how much we need you.

I already have so many things to say,
So promise me and Mommy you’ll be there on my birthday.

My Precious Child

The greatest gift we will ever know
is a child, born to love and grow.
Conception is a miracle in itself;
the start of new life and good health.

Such a treasure your precious child is,
who will thrive on every hug and kiss.
Hold them close and sing them songs;
they will only be a child for so long.

They may not always smell pure and sweet,
a dirty diaper or a dampened sheet.
But with a loving cuddle and a beautiful smile,
the joys of parenthood are all worth while.

“Thank you Lord for our precious child.”

The Big Day

Every minute since our darling baby was placed in our arms
He’s captured our hearts with his wonderful charms
Every day with him was absolute joy
Until he went off to school, now a precious little boy
We dreaded the day he would board the school bus
For he was entering a new world, which did not include us
We looked at each other, his mother and I
And could not understand how 6 years had flown by
Choking back tears, a bit of pride and pain in our heart
We had to let go, so his boyhood could start
All his sweet baby days were fast becoming the past
We wanted to stop the clock, making his babyhood last
Six little years we would never have again
They sped by too fast, how can our hearts ever mend
Yet, later today he will return to us
All happy from riding the big yellow bus
His shirt tail hanging out, a shoe untied
Some paper drawings and a smile full of pride
He will never know what an anxious day we had
All he will see is a proud Mom and Dad

Little Seth, Precious One

What a miracle to be
A new life formed
Created from our deep love
And blessed by everyone above.

Our love combined as one
Creating a miracle of joy
Filling our hearts completely
Producing a baby boy.

Even though we have never seen your face
Or even heard your first cry
A special bond has been formed
Well deep from inside.

A bond that will never be broken
For as long as life shall be
Love will last forever
Far beyond than anyone can see.

As each day passes on
Your beginning edging nearer
We shield you from harm and
Pray for your well being
Until we may protect you in our arms.

You are our miracle soon to behold
For life is a beauty sometimes unseen
Ten tiny fingers, ten tiny toes
Perfection only to be seen.

You are so tiny, so small
So fragile, so sweet
A life not yet known
And yet loved so complete.

With all our love,
Mommy and Daddy
