When we made the decision to start trying to conceive in October, I
began to prepare. I bought the book, "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" by
Toni Weschler which is an EXCELLENT resource. I bought a basal body
thermometer and began charting my temperatures and cervical mucus, yuck, I
know, but it's part of the deal. I went off the pill in June and have been
charting since then. I was hopelessly addicted to diet coke but have now
given up caffeine and it's not all that terrible. I have been taking
prenatal vitamins for a couple of months now and have been trying to eat
healthy and exercise regularly. This is the toughest part for me and I'm
still working on it, boy do I hate to exercise. I am on day three of my
normally 24-26 day cycle. I am predicting that my next cycle will begin
somewhere around September 24-26th and that will begin our first month of
trying to concieve. I usually ovulate on day 13 so that would fall on or
around October 7th-9th. I told Larry to ask for the weekend of the 10th off
but then told him to take the weekend of the 3rd instead but basically I
don't really know what day Ovulation day will fall on so it's hard to
predict. One thing you will discover about me is that I am a planner. I
like to map things out way in advance and know what to expect. This
conception business is hard to control since there are no guarantees that I
will get pregnant the first month of trying (Keep your fingers crossed
though). I am having to relax and accept that this is not something that I
can control or guarantee. All we can do is chart the fertility signs and
try to, um, "get together", on the right nights. I'll keep you posted on
the process.
