Introduction

Welcome to the wonderful world of "babylust". I am writing this journal to capture the events and emotions surrounding the preparation for, conception of, pregnancy with and birth of our first child. First some background information. My name is Tami, I am 29 years old, married to Larry who is 34. We live in upstate New York and have four cats, Maggie, Lucy, Nosey, and Tiger. When we married three years ago we became a blended family as Tiger and Nosey had been his and Maggie and Lucy were mine. We are now the "Brady Bunch" with cats. Larry is a second year resident physician in internal medicine and I am a full-time graduate student. My school program is a new dual degree program which requires me to do half of my coursework in the town where I live and half in Albany which is a good two hours away. I will graduate in May, Lord willing, with a Masters in Arts & Social Sciences and a Masters in Social Work. I also do an internship at the University Counseling Center two days a week. So, on top of all this schoolwork and interning and travelling I also plan to get pregnant!

My husband and I decided that we would wait until October to try to conceive so that the baby would not arrive until after July, this will give me time to graduate and Larry will be entering his third year of residency and will be able to schedule elective time which will make his schedule more flexible. So we are waiting, Larry is waiting patiently, I am waiting very impatiently. I have been wanting to start our family for a long time but we really wanted me to get through graduate school first so now is the time. I go to my first OB appointment on September 17th. I scheduled this appt. 6 months ago and the waiting list was so long that I'm just now getting in. The woman that I'll be seeing is someone that Larry has worked with at the hospital so I am pretty confident that I will like her and will have her for my OB. I'll let you all know.
