Well, my daughter came down with a case of the measles. Lovely. From what I
understand a person's body reacts to the MMR shot in different intensities.
Some have no reaction at all and some have major reactions and then there are
the shades in-between. The MMR is a weakened live virus. Olivia contracted a
case of the measles from the shot. This type of case, from what I was told,
is not infectious or a danger to the fetus or me.
Poor Olivia. She was running a fever for a few days and then woke up one
morning covered in spots. I thought she had the chicken pox, which can be a
problem for the fetus, and me but she didn't. I panicked non-the-less and
paged the Doc. He assured me there was not a problem and my on-line records
indicated that I was immune. I was impressed with this information since he
must have a computer in his car with access to the files. He was on his car
phone. I think I am in good hands! He said if they decided it was chicken
pox to call him so they could make sure I was immune to this also.
This pregnancy has been great but Olivia keeps getting only the diseases that
pose a risk to the fetus and me. Maybe it is some kind of pre-sibling
rivalry.
I am getting bigger by the minute and this one has taken up a habit of his (or
her) sister's. He kicks my bladder constantly. He also seems to get the
hiccups very frequently!!!
We leave for my in-laws in a few days. This will be my fist Christmas away
from my family.
