Kiley's Pregnancy Journal
- Pregnancy Week Sixteen

Sixteen Weeks (again)

Well, I went to the doctor's today for my monthly exam. Everything seems to be fine. Although the doctor says I'm only at 15 weeks and 4 days - but I swear I'm at 16 weeks and 4 days. Oh well, I'm just going by my own calculations. I heard the heartbeat again today. It was at 156 beats per minute. The little tyke is right in the middle of my belly, about two or three inches below my belly button. I haven't felt the baby move yet, or at least I don't think I have. I have felt things in my belly, but can't differentiate between gas, stomach growls or baby movement. I haven't felt anything definite. Could be any day though, although my doctor thinks I won't feel anything for another four weeks since this is my first pregnancy.

So far, everything looks normal. I've had a bit of a cold the past couple of days, but nothing major. I'm still a little stuffy, but that could also be a pregnancy symptom. My blood pressure is good, weight looks good and urine looks good. I get my Triple Screen test on Friday, which will test for birth defects. If it comes back abnormal, I will get an ultrasound. My insurance doesn't cover ultrasounds unless it's necessary, but this would justify it. I'm a little nervous about the test, but I'd rather know what I'm going to be dealing with so I can prepare for it.

I've been extremely tired lately. I went to bed at 8:00 last night with NO problem. I didn't get a very good rest though. Kind of tossed and turned all night. My cat has been laying near my belly every night, under the covers! I wonder if she can sense that I'm pregnant and is somehow protecting me. Animals are quite intelligent and I wouldn't put it past her. She's also been quite affectionate. She's always a sweetie, but she's been laying on my lap more and giving me kisses more. I hope she does OK with the baby. I'd hate to have to give her up. She's like a child to me and I'm VERY attached to her. Will is too. We'd both be upset if we have to give her up.

I've been having pregnancy / baby dreams every night. Last night, I had a dream that I went into labor, had the baby and was holding her in my arms. It was a girl and she was extremely cute! Then, I even breastfed her in my dream. I couldn't remember anything about the actual labor or delivery and that upset me in my dream. I asked if I was drugged or something because I couldn't remember. It was a weird feeling. Then, my next dream, I had quintuplets! YIKES! I didn't actually see any of those babies though. It was more along the lines of telling people afterwards that there were five babies! I hope I'm not foreseeing the future! They've only detected one heartbeat though, so I think I'm safe.

Well, I'm getting married in two and a half weeks. I'm started to get excited about it. I haven't really had a chance to think about it because there's been so much going on. It won't be the dream wedding that I was planning, but I'm pretty easy going. I'm not all that disappointed. The most important thing to me and my fiancé was that we would be with family - and we will be. I hope the plane ride back east doesn't make me sick. I get motion sickness pretty easily.

Anyway, I'll write more next week!
