Kiley's Pregnancy Journal
- Pregnancy Week Twenty Three

23 Weeks Pregnant

Well, I'm certainly getting bigger! I think I got my first "sympathy" gesture from a perfect stranger the other day. Or at least, that's how I saw it. I was attending a seminar and during one of the breaks, the ladies bathroom line was pretty long. This nice lady in front of me told me that I could go ahead of her - for no apparent reason! The only thing I could think of was that she saw that I was pregnant and could sympathize with the fact that your bladder has a mind of it's own sometimes. She just looked at me with those sympathetic eyes. Anyway, I must be showing a lot for strangers to take notice!

I have been feeling crampy and achy the past couple of days. I am worried about these cramps because my doctor gave me a sheet that said that menstrual like cramps could mean preterm labor. I have a feeling that they would be stronger or more consistent though. They come like once a day and only last a few minutes. Could be growing pains too. Or it could be Braxton Hicks contractions. I also felt my belly tighten one day.

I have been pretty stressed lately. Will lost his job about a month ago and hasn't found new work yet. We're struggling pretty bad and have had to tap into our savings account, which I hate. That is our wedding money and it's supposed to go towards things we need for our house and for the baby. It shouldn't have to be used for grocery money. Sometimes I wish he'd make a better effort to find a job. I feel jealous and resentful because he hasn't worked in a month and here I am working 45 hours a week while I'm pregnant. It doesn't seem fair. I'm trying to keep this all inside, but I think I have to tell him how I feel. It's the only way that I can release my stress and anger. Having that around all the time isn't good for the baby.

Other than that, things have been going well. We're both getting really excited. We looked at baby furniture yesterday, even though we aren't buying any until after the baby is born - due to lack of space in our current apartment. We're moving within a month after the baby is born into a larger place and will buy all of the furniture then. I'm just going to keep a bassinet right by our bed for the first few months anyway. We're going with a jungle theme for the baby's room with cute little baby jungle animals. That will work for a boy or a girl.

Well, I have a doctor's appointment next week and my one hour glucose test. I'll let you know how everything goes. Until then...
