Baked Southwest Sandwiches (Taste of Home Magazine)
Ingredients
½ tsp. chili powder
1 can chopped olives, drained
½ tsp. ground cumin ¼ tsp. salt
½ c. mayonnaise
1/3 c. sour cream
1/3 c. chopped green onions
2 ripe avocados, sliced
8 slices Italian bread or seeded hamburger buns
¾-1 lb. thinly sliced cooked turkey
2 med. tomatoes, thinly sliced
¾ c. shredded cheddar cheese
¾ c. shredded Monterey jack cheese
Directions
In a bowl combine olives, chili powder, cumin and salt; set aside 2 T. Add
the mayonnaise, sour cream and onions to the remaining olive mixture.
Place bread on an ungreased baking sheet; spread 1 T. mayonnaise mixture on
each slice. Top with turkey and tomatoes. Spread with another T. of
the mayonnaise mixture. Then top with avocado and cheeses. Sprinkle with
reserved olive mixture. Bake 350* for 15 min. or until heated through.
Yield: 8 servings
