Crafts and Projects for the Lil' Ones with Angie
Things to do when you're at a loss, and the kids are bored.
 | | Volume 2 October 1997 |
 | Hi folks! It's been an exciting month at our house! Finding the time
to sit down and write this month's article has really been challenging,
but I couldn't let all you die hard craft fanatics down, so here I am pecking
away at the keyboard at 1:00 a.m.! The first exciting thing that happened
in our household this month was the discovery that I am pregnant (whoopee!!!)
again. My husband and I had been trying for several months to conceive.
You can imagine our delight! Secondly, my interest and dedication to this
site paid off! In August, I was named Co-Administrator of the Labor Of
Love, and I couldn't be happier about it. So all in all, I'd say it's been
a great four weeks since I started this column . . . I hope September's
issue finds you just as well. . O.k., on to the good stuff . . . |

Children love bubbles! Try making a batch of homemade bubbles for your
toddler and use everyday household items to make the bubbles with. Try
using funnels, Easter egg dipping wands, paper cups, plastic coat hangers
and the list goes on and on. Use your imagination! Mix 1 cup liquid dishwashing
detergent, 2 cups warm water, 4 Tbs. glycerine, 1 tsp. sugar. Gently stir
all ingredients together in a bucket or large bowl. If you want to save
the solution for another time, cover the container tightly and store.
The next time you wash your car, provide your toddler with a bucket
of their own with soapy water, a large paint brush and a painters cap.
Let them "paint" the soapy water on the car. Meg used to love
to work on the tires and bumpers (now she just wants to drive through the
big car wash).

Take elbow macaroni and a few drops of food coloring and toss in a bowl.
Put white glue on a paper plate and give your child heavy white paper and
a paint brush. Let them paint the paper with the glue and stick the macaroni
on to make their own unique picture. This was great fun! We made faces
and circles! Grandma's birthday was this month, so Meghen made some special bath
salts for her. To make your own mix perfume, food coloring and epsoms salts
in a small bowl. Pour them into a clean baby food jar. After capping tightly
(these need to sit for about a week or two before use), add ribbons and
sequins with glue to the outside of the jar to decorate. | |
