Menopause is natural, but that doesn’t make it easy. (After all, childbirth is natural, too, but most moms would tell you that labor is far from an easy thing).

  2. Eat a balanced diet. A balanced diet can help to give you energy when you need it and boost your overall health. It will also help your mood swings. Limit the amount of alcohol and caffeine you take in, as well.
  3. Don’t smoke. If you smoke, quit. Chances are pretty good you’ve tried to quit before; try again. Keep trying until it sticks. Talk to your doctor about medicines that might help, or call a quit-smoking hotline to get a quit kit.
  4. Watch your weight. Losing weight (if you’re overweight) can help to reduce your hot flashes according to researchers. It will also help boost your mood, and can help you sleep better at night.
  5. Get some exercise. Moderate exercise of just 30 minutes a day will help you sleep better, help stabilize your mood, and even strengthen your bones.
