Tyler and Connor's Birth Stories
By Jennifer

Tyler's Birth Story

My husband and I were getting ready to go to bed. I had to go to the bathroom one last time before bed. I was 38 1/2 weeks pregnant, 11 days before my due date. On my way back from the bathroom, my husband made me laugh and then I felt a "trickle". I stood there for a minute wondering what was happening. I quick went back to the bathroom and sat in there for a while. We decided we should get some sleep and see if anything happens. About 2 hours later, I woke to my first contraction. I waited to see when the next one would come, then I would wake my husband. The next one came 10 minutes later. I then woke him up. Each one after that came quicker and quicker. We called the hospital, and they told us to come in when the contractions were unbearable. After about 3 hours of contractions, we went to the hospital. At this time they were 3 minutes apart. We checked in about 4am. The contractions were coming pretty strong...at about 8am, I got my epidural. (I was 3 cm dilated) And boy was I happy! At 10am I was told that I could start pushing. I pushed for 3 hours and my son was born at 1:03pm, April 13th, 1993.

Connor's Birth Story

I was 39 weeks pregnant, 1 week early...All through the night, while I was sleeping, I was having some cramping. At about 5am, I woke up to a strong contraction, and a gush. I told my husband that it was time. We layed in bed for a little bit, 10 minutes or so. The contractions were coming every 3 minutes or so. We got dressed, informed my mom who was downstairs and left for the hospital. By the time we got there at 5:30 am, I was 3 cm. Three nurses were working on me. Contractions were coming on strong, 1-2 minutes apart. Finally I got my epidural at about 7-7:15am. At that time I was 8 cm dilated. Within a few minutes I was 10 cm and was told I could push. At 7:40 am I was pushing and at 7:52am my son was born. I pushed thru 5 contractions...12 minutes! (February 21, 1996)
