Birth Story
By mes@correa.com

I am the mother of 4 children and have several birth stories! My best, though, is the one when my daughter was born. My husband had always insisted that someone's birthday was September 20th but he didn't know who. When we found out our third child was due September 21st, he was excited. Problem was, our first two boys were each one and two weeks late.

On September 19th, I went into labor about 6pm. We arrived at the hospital and were told we should go home. We didn't like that and decided to walk the halls to speed up the labor. My husband kept ducking into rooms in hopes of catching the Green Bay score. They checked me again at 11pm and still wanted to send me home. They decided, though, to check me in and see what would happen. My water broke at midnight and the hard contractions hit!

I wanted an epidural VERY MUCH! Unfortunately, there was an emergency in another room and the doctor was detained. At 1am I felt the baby descend and yelled at my husband to find a doctor or deliver it himself. The nurse came in and started to say something about me not being dilated enough and to calm down. She checked me and lo and behold the baby's head was right there. The nurse was in shock. The doctor came in just in time to catch my daughter as she flew out! In fact, our baby hit the doctor so hard she had bruises on her forehead. It was 1:31am on September 20th and my husband got the birthday and the daughter he always wanted.
