I was at my cousins house one day and we got to talking(she's got a child of her own) and I was telling her about the way I had been feeling lately. She then told me to take a pregnancy test and so I did and sure enough i was pregnant. At the time I had just graduated out of high school and my boyfriend and I were just starting to work and getting our finances together. I then phoned my then boyfriend, now husband, and i told him that WE were expecting. There was total silence on the other end of the line when I told him. Nevertheless he was happy!!
Im now about 5 months and everything was going fine until I started to get these horrible pains on my right side. At the time I had no insurance, no medicaid or anything so I hadnt seen a doctor yet. I ended up going to the county hospital here in Houston (never want to be there again), I finally got to see a doctor at 5 a.m. the next day (arrived at hospital around 9 p.m.). I had a kidney infection, so they prescribed some antibiotics and I was on my way.
Its the week before Christmas and I end up in the hospital with a dialated kidney. I was miserable and the only thing i could do is let the I.V. flush my kidney out. I get out in time to go to our annual Christmas Eve party with my family. Happy to say everything went smooth the rest of my pregnancy. Finally, February rolls around and I pass up my due date (Feb.24). I go to the doctor on the 25th and I was dialated 2cm. My doctor said to go walking, so we did.
It was about 11:00 in the evening and we decide to go to sleep but i was having contrations about every 15 min. and I thought nothing of it. I woke up in the middle of the night to take care of the middle of the night tinkle and my mucus plug comes out. I call my doctor and by then Im having contractions regularly. She tells us to go to the hospital. Were there finally and Im dialated 3 1\2 to 4 cm. It felt like forever those hours. Its 10:00a.m. on February 26, 1997, and im pushing as i have been for the past hour or so. Finally, her head is coming out and I look down and I touch her. Im thinking this is the most painful thing ive ever been through. I hear my mom and the nurses say "Shes here!,shes here!!" My beautiful Cera Denys weighed in at 7lbs and 2oz. and 19 1\2 inches long. I did have demerol for the pain and that was all. Now Cera is fixing to be 3 and she has a 3 month old brother named Isaac Anthony.
