I found out I was pregnant October 30, 1995 with my first child. We had only decided to start trying to get pregnant earlier that month, so I guess it worked the first time. I never had any morning sickness, but i was extremely tired and very emotional (crying). I had my first Dr appt. in December and they did an ultrasound... all was good... saw that baby and just cried for joy at the sight! My due date was July the 4th. The pregnancy was pretty uneventful... Feb 14th we found out we were having a girl. In March, I started experiencing lots of braxton hicks contx and went to the hospital where they rehydrated me and medicated me to sleep it off. I was on bed rest for a week that time.

In April, I started the contx again, and my jerk Dr told me it was all in my head to lay down and not worry about it. I went to the hospital again and was dilated to a 1, so they gave me demerol & I passed out. I got woke up by nurse coming into the room to check me because my contx had become regular and intense... I was in labor (but remember it was all in my head) so they gave me some Brethene to stop it.

I was so scared that my baby was going to be born too soon, and my dr was such a jerk and kept saying that i was just whining and doing this on purpose (guess i interrupted his golf game)so i got another dr who came in and held my hand & talked to me about the possibilities, and really listened and calmed me down. GREAT GUY!

So after that ordeal comes May... in may i went back into labor again and at 35 weeks they stopped me...again so i spent all of memorial day weekend in the hospital and they sent me home again on bed rest... In between all these preterm labor scares, I felt great and enjoyed pregnancy.

Then in June, I went into labor again, and again at 37 weeks stopped me from having her... still dilated to a 1 80% effaced. So I spent that whole weekend in the hospital. Went home Sunday drugged out of my mind and slept thru Monday the 17th. Monday nite we got some dinner and rented a couple of movies, and stayed up til 2 am laying in the floor watching them.

Woke up the next morning, I thought I felt a trickle, so I told my husband to check, he didn't see anything, and I didn't feel wet so I thought I just had to pee. I got up off the air mattress we had in the floor, and GUSH! I just looked at my hubby and he said " I think your water just broke!" and I said "YA THINK?!" So he called the dr who told us to come in as soon as we could. I took a shower and we got to the hospital at 6am. I was having very mild contx really spaced out and no pain at all...boy would that change!!

Got admitted, and that JERK dr checked me after saying that i probably just wet on myself... and discovered that lo and behold my water had broken and i was not making it up! He placed internal monitors and left. At about 8am I started feeling my contx and they were getting pretty uncomfortable by 9am so I asked for meds. They gave me stadol (water in a syringe) and by 9:45 i asked for some more, nope!! I was crying and beating on the bed rails trying to breathe thru contx that were off the charts and i begged the nurse to check me again and at 11:15 i was at a 3cm so i asked for the epidural. I got the epidural at noon and felt instant relief. I joked around and visited with family until about 2 when they checked me and said i was at an 8cm 100% effaced. At about 2:15 i felt some pressure so i asked theme to check me again and i was at 10. I asked my wonderful new dr to turn up the epidural for delivery as i did not want to feel anything. He said he would after i pushed for a while. So I pushed and pushed til my eyes almost popped out and then when her head was coming down closer, he gave me a huge dose of epi and sat me straight up and all the medicine went to my bottom. Then i pushed and her head came out while i watched and i pushed again and her body came out and i was crying so hard when they gave her to me i could not believe she was here and real and i loved her instantly!!

Chelsea Kaytlynn was born June 18th at 4:21pm weighing 6lbs 3oz and 20 in long. She had light brown hair and big blue eyes and to me was the most beautiful angel baby in the world!!

This delivery was so wonderful and i cant wait to do it again... tring for a brother for chelsea next summer!
