This was my second pregnacy. I went in for my 37 week checkup and my dr. decided to rupture my membranes to get things moving along. He told me doing this would possibly up my delivery by one week.
Boy, was he right. My due date was supposed to be July 16,1999. Instead, the following Saturday I started having mild contractions. I didn't think much of it, but called the hospital just to be safe. I went in, they checked me, and said I was 2 cm dilated. So I ended up back at home.
On Sunday, July 11, I was still having these contractions, also I had some fluid leaking. All that day, I went through these light contractions at home. At approximatly 7:30pm Sunday night, we went to the hospital. I was still 2cm dilated. My dr came in and decided to break my water. That really sped things up. My contractions were very painful, I breathed through them and finally I received some pain medication through my i.v. I also decided to have a spinal shot to help ease the pain. This was at around 11:00pm.As my dr was attempting to insert the needles in my back, I got these really strong urges to push.
So I couldn't receive the spinal. At 11:30, I gave birth to my 7lb 7oz baby boy. I couldn't believe it happened so fast. It seemed so much easier with the second child.
He is a very laid back baby. Everyone who sees him says that. He sleeps about 3 or 4 hours at a time before he wakes up hungry. We couldn't be happier with our new baby boy.
