After a miscarriage on Halloween 1996, we were given the okay to try again 6 months later. We found out that I was pregnant on Memorial Day 1997. We were excited, but wanted to wait until I was past the first trimester to tell anyone, but we couldn't wait that long.

Originally we thought I was 5 weeks, when I was actually only 3 weeks. We caught it early and my dr, Dr. Douglas Perryman, kept a close eye on our development. I was prescribed progesterone for 3 months. It must have worked wonders because our bean grew.

I had 4 sonograms done throughout the pregnancy. In September we were to find out the sex of our baby, but it was being too modest. In October, we had our 3rd sonogram and we were having a *G*I*R*L*! We picked out her name, Rebecca Lynn, after the country song with the same name by Bryan White.

In December, I was measuring 4 weeks too big and the doctor's words were, "Let's schedule another sonogram in January. I want to know if we are dealing with a 12 pound baby." Oh my!

January 8th, we went in and they estimated her to be about 6 1/2 pounds at that time and if she went to term, she would be around 8 1/2. I was also given 3 due dates: January 17, January 31, and February 6. The first two dates passed without excitement.

On February 5, my 40 week checkup, I had progressed to 2-3 cm dilated and 50% effaced. We also scheduled to induce on February 9th if nothing happened by then.

I went home from work having minor contrations, went walking at the mall, and was in active labor. I called my husband, Greg, to come get me from his parents house at 7:30 p.m. He called at 6:30 and asked how I was and I was having contractions 3-5 minutes apart lasting up to 45 seconds. He left work, came to his parents and called the dr. We were on our way to the hospital. I was admitted at 7:45 p.m., my water was broke at 9:45, I had an epidural at 11:45 and at 4:15 a.m., I started pushing.

Rebecca Lynn Curtis was born at 5:01 a.m. on her due date, February 6, 1998. She weighed 8 pounds 4.8 ounces and was 18 3/4 inches. She was born with a head full of dark brown hair.

Now, at 8 1/2 months, her hair has turned blonde and has gotten pretty long on top, she weighs 20 pounds and is 27" long. She is eating everything in sight, pulling up and cruising! We love her dearly and wouldn't change it for the world!

Thanks for letting me share my pleasurable experience. Good Luck to all those women out there who are pregnant or have a newborn. They really are a work of art.
