I was one week overdue and we thought we should try an herbal enduction of black and blue cohosh(B&B tincture). On the first night I had contractions 10 min. apart, the second 5 min. and the third 3 min. The contractions did not hurt until 5am Saturday morning. I stood in the shower until the hot water ran out and as soon as there was more I was in it again. I was only dilated to 6 cm at 12:30 and discouraged. I would continue to take showers until about 5:30 pm. I was FINALLY ready to push , but I had a lip so with the next couple contractions it moved out of the way and I was able to push. What a great feeling it was, I pushed for 20 min and then he crowned and 20 minutes later he finally came out.
I am 5'2 and had a 9lb 7 oz baby boy my first try at this. I was SHE WOMAN OF THE WORLD I had had this huge baby at home no medication, enjoyed every minute, although somewhat painful I tolerated it well and my healthy baby Skylar Makenzy was not tortured like the babies born in the hospital. We took an herbal bath and went to sleep. He slept for 7 hours and then I woke him to nurse him. I had no tears and my midwife said my bottom did not even look as though I had had a baby. I will always have my babies at home the experience is totally awesome and cannot even begin to be compared with a hospital birth (good or not).
Skylar Makenzy 9/14/96 9lbs. 7 ozs. 20 1/2 inches long 6:39pm.
HOMEBIRTH: TRY IT, YOU'LL LOVE IT.
