My partner and I were planning a home birth. We had been going to a doctor and mid-wife that only did home births. We bought aromatherapy candles, massagers, extra towels, etc. in preparation for our big day.

I had had a healthy pregnancy and my baby was head down and fully engaged. I had a my first contraction at 10:45 P.M.

We decided to try to get some more sleep because we figured it would be a long time before my labor started getting serious. The contractions were too painful for me to sleep, though. My water didn't break and my contractions were intense but irregular. We didn't want to bother our doctor until one of these things happened.

At 3 A.M. I started to push! I thought something must be wrong and ran to the bathroom. I told my partner to call the doctor because I couldn't help but push. I tried not to push, but three pushes later I felt something coming so I stood up, reached down, and felt my baby slip out.

But something was wrong, he had flipped around on the last day and was coming out butt first--breech! He slipped out to his shoulders and with one more push his head came. I was in shock and just sat there holding my son, Noah.

The doctor showed up with the police chasing her because she was speeding. Noah was perfectly healthy and I didn't tear enough for even one stitch. After we were both checked out we took a nice bath together and then climbed into bed to nurse for the next couple of days.

It was an amazing experience! I now know that I can do anything!!!
