Birth Story
By Dazey421

When I was pregnant, I was scared to death about giving birth! Everyone told me their horror stories from 20 hour labors to emergancy c-sections. I was sure there would be some horrible problem that occured during my labor.

When I found out I was already 2 centimeters dialated & 50% effaced at 34 weeks, I was sure I would be having him by my due date which was June 5th. Well that day came and there still was no baby. In fact, June 9th came and there still was no baby but there was finally a sign the baby was coming.

That morning, I lost my mucas plug. For me it was the most exciting thing that happened in the past 9 months but for my doctor it was no big deal. He told me to stay calm, rest, and wait. WAIT!!!! That's all I had been doing for the past 4 weeks.

I waited all day for some miracle to happen that would tell me I was in labor and we could leave for the hospital where I could get my epidural that was waiting for me, but by 10 that night still nothing. Then I finally I got a stange tightening feeling in my stomach. Nothing I thought. Then the same feeling came 45 minutes later. Nothing I thought again must be Braxten Hicks, which I never experianced. By 2 am, this feeling was coming every 3 minutes on the dot but I still didn't think I was in labor because it wasn't all that bad. By 3am, the contractions were every 2 minutes and I decided it was time to leave to go to the hospital figuring they would probibly confirm my feeling it wasn't labor and send me home. When I finally got to the hospital and settled in to a birthing room it was 4am and the contractions were 1 minute apart and lasted just as long. IT WAS PAINFUL!!! but it wasnt anything unbelievable that you can't handle. I know that because I never recieved that epidural. When I got to the hospital, I was already dialated 9 centimeters and after just 30 minutes of pushing, I gave birth to a beautiful 7pound 4 ounce baby boy.
