Birth Story
By Amy Cowan

I didn't find out that I was pregnant until almost seven months along. I know it seems I'm pretty stupid, but there is a reason. I was always pretty screwed up with my periods so I didn't have any clue I could even get pregnant.

I was sick from about the second month on, but I thought I was wearing myself out with my job. The first time I felt him kick though, I knew. He was very tiny so I couldn't feel him move until then. As soon as I went to the doctor, we discovered I had had Toxemia for a while & that was what had been making me sick.

I was at the doctor for twice a week for the whole seventh month. Then at the end of the first week of my eighth month, they told me I had to have him. I was scared half to death. I checked into the hospital. They induced my labor. I was in labor for eleven hours, and not dialating. Then my labor quit.

The doctor gave me a choice to re-induce, or have a c-section. Since there was a good chance I would have to have the section anyway, I chose that. About twenty minutes later, I had a 3 lb 10 1/2 oz. healthy baby boy. He was in the hospital for a month, but I have him home now and I couldn't be happier.
