Alicia Jean's Birth Story
By Terrie

I would like to tell you about the birth of my first child.

I was in premature labor and on bedrest from 20 weeks until she was born at 35 weeks. She was born on August 30, 1991.

I went to the hospital in labor again on August 29. We spent the night. The doctor sent us home at 5pm on August 30. He gave me something to help me sleep. I went home and went to bed.

At 8pm, I woke up and felt like I had to have the worst bowel movement of my life. I went to the bathrrom and my water broke but I didn't know it. I tried to get in the bathtub to relieve the pressure. I then started to have awful contractions and didn't know what was happening to me.

My Dad came home and decided to make himself a sandwhich. He then looked to see what was going on between my legs as I was telling him I needed to push. They finally put me in the truck to go to the hospital. This was at 8:10pm.

We drove to the hospital and got there at about 8:17pm. When I got out of the truck, I put my hand between my legs and my daughters head was in my hand. I told my dad. He turned white when he felt for himself. My little brother got me a wheelchair and I yelled at him that I did not want to sit on my baby's head.

They took me in and tried to get me to labor and delivery. That never happened. The nurse in the ER put me on a gurney and two very small pushes later she was born. There were to paramedics and two nurses there but nobody caught her she landed on the gurney. Someone then picked her up and showed her to me and they took her away it was an hour before I got to hold her.

Her face was bruised from me holding my legs together to prevent her from coming out. I did not need any stitches and she came home with me two days later.

By the way she was born at 8:20pm. She weighed 6lbs 9oz and was 19.5 inches long. Her name is Alicia Jean and she is now six. She is and always has been the light of my life. She is still racing around like there isn't enough time in the day. Thank you for reading!!!
