Sydney Claire's Birth Story
By Sydney Claire's Mom

When I found out I was pregnant I was only 17. The day I told the father he never called again!! Thankfully I have a great Mom and she stood by me the whole pregnancy.

On Aug 6, 1999 I found out I would be due on March 25, 2000. I was very nervous but also excited. I went to the doctor every month and had great prenatal care. On Nov, 15 I found out I was having a little girl. I was so happy when I found out it was gonna be a girl. On the way home from the doctor I called everyone I knew to tell them I was having a girl.

My pregnancy was fine up until 8 months. When I was 32 weeks I went to the doctor for my monthly visit and was told that I had preeclampsia. I was sent to the hospital and released 3 hours later with no significant change in my blood pressure. The next morning I had to go back to the hospital because of my blood pressure again. I was released once again with no significant change and put on complete bed rest. Eight weeks on bed rest seems like forever especially when you are pregnant!! Finally, my due date came and I was still not in labor!! I was sent home from the doctor dilated to 3 cm. I went back to the doctor a week later and there was no change. Since my blood pressure was still very high and I had bad reflexes and I was a week late the doctor told me it was time to have the baby!! I was sent to the hospital and was put on a pitocin drip at 5 pm on March 28. I was feeling good until the doctor broke my water at 7 cm and then asked for an epidural. Once I got the epidural I was fine again. Finally at 12 midnight the nurse came in and checked me. She told me I was fully dilated and it was time to push! With my mom, sister, and two cousins at my side I started pushing. I pushed for about 45 minutes and at 1250 am on March 29, 2000, Sydney Claire was born weighing 8 lbs. 4 oz. and measured 19 inches.

Today, Sydney is 22 months old and she is a handful. I am trying to potty train her and she is doing great. She is into everything and as of right now I don't think I am going to have anymore kids. I am sure I will change my mind when she is about 5 but when someone asks me now if I want more I laugh in their face and say not for at least 10 years:).
