Evan's Brithstory
By Kelly
My husband and I found out we were pregnant and due in September. From
the very begining I had problems, my morning sickness was very bad, I lost
15 pounds because I couldn't keep anything in me. After 3 months, my
sickness went away and everything to me, was going fine.
Then one night I
noticed I started to bleed so I called the Doctor's office and they told
me that it's normal to be spotting and to call in the morning. Well that
night I didn't feel to well, but I didn't think too much of it. The next
morning I woke up to get ready for work and noticed I had a lot of blood.
I went to the Doctor's office and they told me I had dilated to a 3 and to
get to the Hospital ASAP. When I arrived at the Hospital they immedialty
put me on drugs to try and keep my baby in me... to my surprise I was on
bedrest for a month at the hospital. I couldn't even sit up or get up to
go the bathroom, I was stuck in bed.
I went through a lot of problems in
the hosptial, thinking my amniotic fluid was infected to not being able to
find any veins to administor my meds. BUT on July 4th 1998 at 4am, I woke
with a very strong contraction. I didn't think much of it because I was
continously having contractions for the whole month.
So I waited to see
when the next one would be and it was 2 minutes later and even stronger.
So I woke my husband (luckly he slepped over that night)and we did the
usual routine. They monitored me for a while and decided I was going to
have this baby. They brought me down to the L&D room and parents, and
family were called.
I figured this would be a easy delivery since I was
dilated to a 5 and I would only be pushing out a small baby. About an
hour later they decided to take me off my meds and that made my muscles
contract because they had been like noodles for a month. Finally 10 hours
later I could push, but my body wasn't ready too because I couldn't feel
the sensation at first, but after I tried a few pushes, I WAS READY. My
son was born still in his sac.
The Doctor's told me that he was very
lucky to have that happen because he really didn't have any stress during
the labor. He then was put in the NICU for two months, he went through a
lot of tests and poking and proding, and the only thing he has to deal
with at this time is he has two small spots on his lungs. My husband and
I had to go through a lot of changes after Evan's birth, but it was all
worth it and he is doing wonderful now.
