Welcome Joshua!!
By Kim

I found out I was pregnant July of 2000. I was so excited to be pregnant! Even thought the baby's father decided not to be involved, I was so ready to become a mother and had so much support from my friends and family. I was due on March 16, 2001. On Novemeber 1, I found out I was having a boy! I worked all the way up until the big day, and never had any complications during the whole time I was pregnant. I never even had morning sickness! On March 7, I had gone to my doctors appointment, and was 75% effaced and 1cm dialated. The next night, I awoke with contractions, but after getting up and walking around, they went away. I knew then it wasn't the "real" thing. On March 10, I worked that day and the whole day I was having mild contractions. I didn't think much of them, and that evening, they went away. Right around midnight, on March 11, I woke up with contractions again. So, I got up and walked around as I did a few nights before. These didn't go away. I started timing them and they were about 7 minutes apart. I labored til about 4:30am, then decided to call my mom, who was my coach. The contractions were closer together. She got to my place around 5am and right after she got there, my contractions were about 3 minutes apart. She said we should go to the hospital. By then, I could hardly talk through them. We got to the hospital before 6am, and I was in so much pain! My water hadn't broke yet either. The nurse checked me and I was 100% effaced and at 4cm. I knew right then and there that I was having my baby today! Not too long after I was admited, I was given my epidural. What a life saver! I was able to relax and call people to tell them I was in labor. The doctor came in right before 8:30am, to break my water. She found that it was already broken and that I was at 10cm! I started pushing, and at 9:08am Joshua Bradley was born! He weighed 7lbs. 2oz. and was 19 1/2 inches long. The only thing that I hope doesn't happen next time, is having another 4th degree tear! Other than that, giving birth to Joshua was the most wonderful and memorible experience of my life. He's now almost 6 months old, and I am so thankful to have this little boy in my life every day!
