Kameron and Brandon
By Paula Thorne

I have a 2 year old daughter at home, so finding out I was pregnant with twins was a shock to everyone. I found out pretty early at 7 and a half weeks, so I had plenty of time to prepare. My due date was July 26, the day of my 21st birthday.

At 26 and a half weeks, I started having contractions 10 minutes apart. I went to labor and delivery to be monitored. I hadn't dilated, so they stopped it.

At 32 weeks, I went back again, this time to be dilated a cm and partially thinned out. Again they stopped it. On Tuesday June 26th, at 36 weeks my doctor said it was okay to have the babies. He told me to make anappointment for the following Monday.
The next day, I started having contractions 5 minutes apart. My doctor was off that day, so an on call doctor came in to examine me. I was 2 and a half centimeters and fully effaced. He wanted to stop labor until my doctor came in the following morning. The put me on some Magnesium Sulfate, and gave me a couple of steroid shots since the babies were considered 4 weeks premature. The doctor said if I had them now, they would spend 4 weeks in NICU. They tried to stop my labor. I kept feeling a lot of pressure, so they checked me.I had dilated to 5 cm. in 45 minutes. They knew they couldn't keep these babies in,and since one of the babies were breech, they decided to do a c-section.

I was so scared. I have never had any type of surgery before. I started throwing up, and breaking out into a sweat. When I heard that first cry, it was the sweetest sound on earth.

Kameron Ray Thorne weighed 6'2 and was 19 inches long, and his brother Brandon Avery Thorne weighed in at 5'12 and was 18 inches long. Both were healthy and didn't have to spend anytime in NICU. They came home with me 2 days later.

They are now very healthy 2 months old.
