Blake's birth story
By Amanda

Well me first start with that me and my husband were very young, but very much excited about our baby. I found out that I was preg. in November of 98'.Everything was going well, I didn't even fill that I was preg. except for the fact that I was huge and ate all the time. I started out weighing only 110 and in the end I was 144. It all started when I was at work like always and I hit my stomach on a metal bar that had a point on it. Instantly the baby quit moving and I had a bruise with a blood spot in it. I went to call my doctor and he told me to get to the hospital NOW. I was completely scared out of my mind. So one the way to the hospital I stopped and grapped my SIL.I wasn't going in there by myself, I have never even been in the hospital before. Well we finally find the L&D. I finally get ahold of my husband and he shows up crying and scared. Blake had stopped moving and he was a very active baby, I just had a feeling that it was a boy. They hooked me up to the monitors and I layed there for about five hours. I have -0 blood so I had to get a shot incase my blood tried to mix with the babies it wouldn't hurt him. They never checked to see if I was dialating. I was having very small contractions but I had no clue what it was, I thought that the baby could tell that the monitors was pushing on him and that he didn't like it,(boy was I wrong). Well I returned to work the next day and very sore. Then six days later is when it all happened. It was the middle of April so it was still pretty outside so I turned off the heat and noticed that I was already starting to leak a little bit of pee pee, we all know how that is. Me and my husband always followed one another to town to his moms house. Then he would go to work with his Stepdad and I would talk to my MIL for a little bit. Well I went to the bathroom and I saw some blood. I freaked out and they said that my face was as white as ghost. My MIL told me sit down and put my feet up while they called the doctor. Well we waited and waited actually only about 15mins. then we just went on into the ER. I finaly got checked for the first time my whole preg. and was told that I was 2-2.5cm. I was only 25 weeks though. My doctor was very rude and had no bedside manners at all. He told us that we would have a baby the size of a puppy. How rude. So I am no longer allowed to get up, I am on bedrest and to stay in the hospital til I deliver. I was tilted back on my head to take the pressure off of my cervix. We stayed at this hospital from Tuesady til Friday. Then found out that the doctor that would take care of the baby had to leave town for his fathers funeral for two weeks. So I was to be transported to another hospital that could care for my baby. I really hated my doctor by this time. He wanted to sent me way away and my mom and MIL said no. He yelled out "stop the helicopter we don't know where we are going", well my MIL was about to tell him where he could go. We found a doctor in Tulsa that was only 2 hrs. away. So off we go, me by myself in the helicopter and i had never been in the air before. Well we arrive and finally my husband and family gets there and same thing on bedrest and on my head. The doctor in Springdale said that he could not do a cercloge, but the doctor in Tulsa said that he could have. This doctor was 100% better that the other. So from Friday til Tuesday I was there just trying to keep my baby in me, when a nurse came in on tuesday morning and asked if I was feeling the contractions and I said no. Well I started getting shots of something that was suppose to make me feel drunk then go to sleep. Well out of about 10 shots only one worked. The contractions would not stop and I was dialating. So the doctor came in and said that we would do a US. Well he discovered that my placenta had ruptured and that I was going to have a c-section now. So off we go and I get my spinal block while my dear sweet husband is trying to get his scrubs on when the string on the pants break, but he's not very big so he tied it around him. Then my little angle was born at 3:44pm on 4-20-99. He weighed 1lbs and 13oz and was 13". He was in the hospital for 3 months and 1 day. We visited as much as possible but living 2 hrs away and having to go back to work,I was not able to stay the whole time, but really that is good, because the more you talked, touched, and he got stressed the worse it was on him. He just neated to grow. But now he is a very healthy 2 year old and their is nothing physically or mentally wrong with him. We are very fortunate that he is so healthy. Sorry that it is so long, but it was a long procedure. If you have any questions then you can e-mail me at arkmommy21@yahoo.com thanks for listening to my story.
