Having a child is one of lifes most amazing moments. It is special and amazing and a true miracle. However, becoming pregnant can be a challenge for some women and it takes a lot of effort and patience. Fortunately, there are ways to help women who are having trouble becoming pregnant. The answer is with ovulation testing. There are lots of different ovulation tests on the market but one of the most popular ones is saliva ovulation testing.

This is a relatively easy and pain free way to determine if you are ovulating or not. In addition, its a lot easier to take a saliva sample when you are at work than a urine sample! The saliva ovulation testing is really easy.

How Does it Work?
Saliva ovulation testing works by detecting the LH hormone surge in your body. Once you experience the LH surge you can expect to ovulate within 12 to 72 hours. Since this is a short time frame it is important to detect the LH surge as soon as it occurs to maximize your chances of becoming pregnant.

Basically, you simply take a small saliva sample, allow it to dry, and then evaluate its appearance. When small fern like shapes are observed in the dried saliva this indicates the hormone levels are increasing in the body, i.e. the LH surge is occurring and ovulation is imminent.

Is it Accurate?
Although saliva ovulation testing is relatively new in its conception it seems to work just as well as urine based ovulation tests. In fact, some women feel the saliva ovulation testing works better than urine based tests. More than likely this opinion is based on the fact that they are easier to use and can be used anywhere. Not to mention they are not as messy as urine ovulation kits!

What do They Cost?
The one downside to saliva ovulation tests is that they cost about three times the amount of urine ovulation kits. Some women dont mind the extra expense because they are so much easier to use and not as messy while other women dont think the expense is worthwhile. This is a personal choice altogether. Both of the ovulation kits appear to be very accurate and help women determine when their bodies are about to ovulate on a regular basis. This helps women become pregnant and live to fulfill their dream of becoming a mother.
