Ways to Save on School Clothes
Clothing is expensive and it seems that kids have to wear the hottest brands or else be ridiculed and made fun of by others. As parents, this is difficult to handle because while you don’t want your child to be picked on and you do want them to look good, you don’t want to do so at the expense of your bank account. Fortunately, there are ways to save on school clothes and while you may not be used to making efforts to save money you will definitely do so by following these suggestions.
Hand me downs
The first option is hand me downs. If you have an older child that can pass clothes down then this is certainly a wonderful option that will allow you to save money and still clothe your children. If you don’t have a child in the family to provide you with hand me downs then you may want to see if a friend or other family member would be interested in trading clothes with you or giving you hand me downs. It’s worth asking and can really save a lot of money.
Sales
Kids clothing should never be purchased unless it is on sale. Many stores have clearance racks each year with lots of clothes marked up to 75% off. This is the perfect opportunity to buy clothes for the following year. If your child is in 3T now then you buy plenty of 4T clothing for the next year. Most likely everything will fit and those items that don’t can easily be given away or sold. This is a great way to have new clothing for your child at a price that can’t be beat.
Craigslist
Another option is to check Craigslist. Many parents choose to sell their kids clothing when they no longer need it. There are many different options and they change regularly. Just search for what’s available, look for photos, and in no time you will be able to tell if there are any clothing options for your child roe children.
Keep these suggestions in mind and you just may very well save a lot of money on clothes while still making your little one look good. Keep in mind that with proper care clothes can last for years in excellent condition, even with kids, so start early helping your kids understand the importance of keeping their clothing clean and in good condition.
