Ways to Improve Cervical Mucus

Cervical mucus plays a big part in ones ability to get pregnant. If you dont have enough cervical fluid or it is not the right consistency you will find that it is much harder to get pregnant that you would have ever thought. Luckily, there are some simple things that you can do to improve your cervical mucus and therefore improve your chances of becoming pregnant.

Many women report that they simply do not have any cervical mucus. This probably isnt completely true, but if you do not see a clear, slippery, egg white consistency type of cervical mucus around the middle of your cycle than you may not have enough of it. This type of cervical mucus is often known as fertile mucus and that is because it is a great transporter of sperm into the uterus and up to the fallopian tubes where they will fertilize the egg.

If you lack the proper amount of cervical fluid there are some really simple things you can do. First, you can decrease the amount of caffeine in your diet. Caffeine zaps the fluids from every part of your body and many women report a big change when they do away with it. Women who have too little cervical fluid will also be well served to drink at least 10 eight ounce glasses of water per day. This will replenish the fluids you lose through exercise and such every day.

If these techniques do not help you can herbal remedies such as Evening Primrose Oil, which is known for its ability to increase the amount and quality of cervical fluid. One must take 1500mg to 3000mg per day from menstruation through ovulation. It may take a couple months to see the improvement, but this is generally a great way to improve your cervical mucus.

If you still do not see much of an improvement you may want to consider all of the medications you are taking. Many medications such as allergy medications dehydrate the body or dry up all of the fluids, which is not what you need when you are trying to increase the fluids in other parts of your body! Regular Robitussin is also a great option for those that want to increase their cervical mucus. Robitussin is often suggested by doctors as an over the counter remedy. Estrogen creams are often prescribed in conjunction with the Robitussin.

If you try these home remedies and you still do not see a positive change than you might want to talk to your gynecologist and see if he or she has any ideas. In extreme cases Clomid may be prescribed but many doctors have some less extreme remedies up their sleeves. Cervical mucus is something that can usually be dealt with quite easily, it just may take some time.
