Make Coupons Work for Your Family
Is your family experiencing financial problems in the midst of the economic meltdown? If so, you may want to consider ways you can save money. One great way to bring your grocery bill down is to start using coupons. There are many benefits to coupons and you can actually save a lot of money by using them. The following suggestions will help you see why using coupons to shop is worthwhile and how it will help you save money.
Triple Coupons
If you look around you will find most grocery stores in your area have a day of the week or month they accept triple coupons. If you have a 50 cents coupon and it’s tripled that is $1.50 worth of savings! Do that with five or six items and you have shaved a good amount offer your total. The important thing is to not buy something just because it has a coupon. Only buy items you really need and will use. Otherwise, the coupons won’t really save you money overall.
Competitor Coupons
Most grocery stores will accept competitor coupons. Because of this it makes shopping easier. Just clip out all the coupons and use them all at your favorite store. If they won’t accept competitor coupons you should find a store that will.
No Coupon/No Purchase
Another rule you should consider following is the no coupon/ no purchase rule. What this means is you only buy items you have coupons for. This will help you stay away from items you shouldn’t be spending money on anyway and help you focus on purchasing just what’s on your list.
Clipping
If you find you are too busy to clip coupons then simply assign this task to one of your kids and assign the sorting task to another. That way, you will have all the coupons you need and they will be neatly sorted by food or whatever order works best for you. Kids should have some responsibilities in the home and by clipping coupons they learn the value of saving money, which is an important lesson to teach.
