Keeping Balanced Estrogen Levels

Estrogen is one of the major hormones that are produced in the female body. With estrogen the actual level in your body might differ. If the estrogen levels are too high or too low, it may affect ovulation, as well as other parts of your body. Understanding the importance of this hormone in your body will help you to maintain a balance.

Estrogen is known to be the primary hormone that is in the female body. It allows the sexual characteristics in a woman to be present. When a woman reaches a reproductive age, they will begin to change because of the estrogen levels. A woman’s menstrual cycle, as well as her reproduction will be dependent on the estrogen levels.

Estrogen usually functions in three areas of the body. The ovaries, corpus luteum, and placenta are the main areas where a woman will have estrogen in her body. There are also lower levels in tissue located in other areas of the body. For example, the liver, breasts, and adrenal glands will often times have lower levels of estrogen in them.

Because of the job that estrogen has with the female body, it is also responsible for female fertility. If a woman is trying to become pregnant, she will want to make sure that her estrogen level is balanced. This is then related to ovulation that occurs with a woman.

The ovulation levels should remain at a normal level, depending on the time of the month that it is. This will help with reproduction. If the ovulation levels are low, you may not be able to become pregnant. This can then said to be related directly to hormones, which may be from a lower level of estrogen or a low level of progestin.

If the levels of estrogen are low, it can be attributed to two problems. The first is that the ovaries are not receiving the right signals to produce estrogen. This can be caused by lower body weight, not eating right, or engaging in the wrong amounts of exercise. The hormone will then stop producing as much. The second reason why estrogen levels may be lower is because of the ovaries not being able to release eggs. If you have an irregular menstrual cycle, this is something to look into. From here, you can find ways to solve the problem.

If you are finding that there is an imbalance in your estrogen level from irregular functions of your reproduction, then you will need to find a way to rebalance your hormones. If not, this will cause problems with ovulation and pregnancy. Estrogen, as the main sex hormone, is important in your ability for reproduction as well as other functions as a woman.
