Items to Pack in Your Diaper Bag

Packing your diaper bag with the right essentials can make life for new moms and dads much simpler.

As a new parent, you may feel overwhelmed and frustrated at the amount of baby products and baby gear that it seems you need to take on every trip. Loading yourself up with everything can be a struggle and very time consuming. After having 2 kids, I have come to realize that having a well-stocked diaper bag is a necessity, but it doesn’t have to weigh you down.
There are certain things you most definitely don’t want to be caught without.

Some of these include:

  • A day’s supply of diapers
  • A travel-size case of baby wipes
  • Diaper rash ointment
  • A changing pad
  • A burp cloth and 2 bibs
  • Ice packs to keep breast milk or pre-made formula cool.
  • Baby formula in a 3 compartment container (pre-measured)
  • A bottle (or 2) or a spill-proof cup
  • Sunscreen
  • Acetaminophen – ibuprofen – Benadryl
  • Extra change of clothing and a sweater or jacket
  • Pacifier(s)

Some non-essentials that can make life easier:

  • Ziploc bags for messes
  • A Ziploc bag or snack container with cheerios/crackers/puffs
  • A healthy snack for you
  • A few small toys and/or books
  • Diaper bags or small scented trash bags (for disposing of dirty diapers)
  • A tube of teething gel
  • Antibacterial hand sanitizer
  • Throw-away camera for those precious, not-to-be-missed moments

Be prepared; Have your diaper bag stocked and ready to go at any moment.

There is nothing worse than having an errand crop up at the last minute and not having your bag ready. Check it regularly and replace used diapers and dirty clothes.

Babies can make even the simplest trips a struggle, but with a little planning ahead of time and not over-packing your bags, you can sail through anything!
