Is It Possible To Potty-Train An Infant?

There are many individuals out there who believe in infant potty training and claim it has worked for them. Perhaps you are one of these individuals or maybe you simply dont believe. Regardless, there is a plan for infant potty training. The following outline of how potty training an infant is initiated will help you determine if it is for real or just a joke.

How to Start Potty Training an Infant
The theory of infant potty training is that from birth to four or five months infants have a special window of learning open and you can teach them to use the potty. Of course, it takes time and effort, but infant potty training can be established through the following actions.

You must connect with your baby and learn to communicate. This is very important in infant potty training. If you do not know when your child is about to eliminate then you will have a very difficult time at best teaching this method. First, you need to observe your infants body language and noises to identify when he/she needs to eliminate. You can frequently time this after feedings as you begin communicating with your baby.

Once you believe it is time for your baby to eliminate you can make a sound like sssss or even say something like pee so the baby can associate the sound/command with the action of eliminating. It is also great to say these words or sounds while your baby is actually eliminating. During this time you probably want to use a diaper. As you believe your child is learning to associate the words with the action you will take her to the potty when you believe it is time to eliminate. You will say your special word or noise and your baby will know it is time to eliminate, fortunately right over the toilet!

This Sounds Crazy, but Interesting
Many individuals reading this for the first time believe that infant potty training sounds outrageous. How could it really be true? The answer just might surprise you and you may need to try it with your own little bundle of joy to find out the answer. If you are truly interested in infant potty training consider giving it a try.

It does require a lot of diligence and patience, but soon your baby will be potty trained. Most infants are completely potty trained by age two, yet have amazing control soon after beginning the process. You have to keep in mind that accidents will happen, but with infant potty training you will save a lot of money on diapers and change very few!
