How to Save Money When Planning a Wedding

Weddings can be one of the most joyful days in a couple’s life. However, a wedding is also very often the single most expensive day in a couple’s life, as well. It would not be impossible for a couple to find that they are spending several thousand dollars on a relatively modest wedding. Fortunately, when you are on a budget, there are a great many ways that you can save money when planning a wedding.

One of the best ways that you can save money when planning a wedding is to rent, as opposed to buy, some of the materials. If you want a cake with a fountain, for example, that can be rented. Also, you might be able to even find a nice wedding dress for as much as 1/10 the cost of a new one at a resale or consignment shop. Typically, these dresses have been only worn once, and should be in wonderful condition. Sometimes, you may find a discount bridal shop that can provide relatively inexpensive dresses for the bride, as well as the brides maids. You may also be able to negotiate a discount of some sort on tux rentals, and don’t forget to ask about AAA discounts and such.

There are other ways that you can save money when planning a wedding, as well. You might, for example, consider hiring a student musician from a local university, which will often be much less expensive than a DJ or a band would be. You can do the same for photography for the wedding; by hiring a student photographer, you will probably pay less than half what a professional would cost.

You might also even save money on your invitations. The quality of printers available has many people printing their own wedding invitations, wedding programs, and thank-you cards. Even if you want something professionally done, you might consider ordering from a discount retailer or a party store, rather than from a wedding planner.

These are just some of the many ways that you can go about saving money when you are planning a wedding.
