How To Keep Toddler Occupied During Church
Most church going families want to continue going to church even with their toddler. However, church is usually considered a quite place and parents feel anxious and embarrassed when their toddler makes too much noise. Most people in the congregation won’t mind, but parents do feel exceptionally sensitive about their child making noise during church. Fortunately, there are ways to keep your little one occupied during church.
Books
Take some small board books for your toddler. They will enjoy turning the pages and looking at all of the pictures. Avoid books that have sounds or make noises because this will only get your toddler more excited and louder. Books that have touch and feel aspects are fun, too, because your toddler can explore the different textures and fabrics quietly.
Snacks
Toddler get hungry during church because it is so close to lunchtime. This could be the cause of a meltdown if you are not prepared. Because of this you will want to have several snacks to offer your toddler to help fill them up. If you don’t mind giving your toddler a sucker then this will be a super treat and it will keep his mouth occupied for quite a while. You will have a quiet toddler, although he may be a little sticky!
Games
There are some quite games you can take that your toddler will enjoy playing that will keep him occupied and relatively quiet. Choose games that do not have noisemakers or a lot of pieces. This will allow your toddler to have fun in church, but quietly.
Nursery
Most churches have a nursery where toddlers may be dropped off while parents attend the service. There are some churches that offer this service free of charge and others that charge a small fee. You should check out the nursery at your church to determine if it is an appropriate place to leave your little one. In most cases, your toddler will have fun playing and you can enjoy the service!
There are many options for parents with toddlers that will allow them to enjoy the church service without having to stop attending church while their little one is in the toddler phase.
