How Can I Make Homemade Baby Food?

Babies are expensive and feeding them is even more so! Have you looked at the prices of baby food lately? Not to mention the prices of organic baby food if you are planning that route. It is amazing that baby food could cost so much. But, the fact is it does. Because of this some families choose to make their own baby food at home. Not only is it cheaper, but many times it is healthier as well. If you are interested in making homemade baby food then the following suggestions will give you a guide to help you on your way.

What You Need
First of all you need a blender, food processor, or something similar. A boiler or a big pot for steaming as well as ice cube trays are what you need to get started. It will take just a few minutes of your time and you will know exactly what your baby is eating.

What to Do
First, you need to buy fresh fruits and veggies. You can use frozen as a second option and only used canned as a last resort and the version with no salt or low sodium. If you can use the fresh kind to ensure the healthiest baby food possible. Then, wash and clean the fruits and veggies to remove the chemicals. Put them into boil until they are mushy.

Next, puree the fruits and vegetables. Make sure they are well pureed for infants and you can leave them a little coarser for older infants. At this point pour the baby food into the ice cube trays. You should label the trays with the food you are placing in them so you know what you are feeding your baby in case he doesnt like it or there is an allergic reaction. Then, cover with plastic wrap. When it is time to feed your baby simply remove a cube or two of his favorite fruits and veggies and let them thaw to room temperature. You may even pop them into the microwave for a few seconds.

The great thing is you can spend one afternoon making baby food and have enough for weeks at a time! You will save money and best of all know exactly what is going into your little ones body. Dont simply rely on pre-made baby food because it is easy. You will notice that having homemade baby food on hand is a lot easier and affordable in the long run not to mention healthier for your infant.
