How can I deal with morning sickness safely?
Some women have mild morning sickness and other women have severe morning sickness while still other expectant women have none at all. But, for those who do suffer from this all too common pregnancy symptom wonder how they can deal with it but also do it safely. Fortunately, there are some tips to help you deal with morning sickness safely. But keep in mind when you are feeling nauseous that most women find relief after the first trimester!
Tip #1 Breakfast in Bed
Many women have found that eating some dry crackers or even plain, dry cereal before getting out of the bed in the morning helps them feel a little better. This doesnt work for all women but many say that it reduces the nausea enough for them to get out of bed and start their day.
Tip #2 Dont Get Overheated
When you get too hot you increase the feelings of nausea. So, the last thing you want to do is be in hot environments. Use the air conditioning even if it is winter so you dont get too hot.
Tip # 3 Rest
It is important to get enough sleep during pregnancy, but it is even more important to do so if you have morning sickness. Exhaustion only exacerbates morning sickness so make sure you get at least eight hours of rest and a nap during the day.
Tip #4 Strong Smells
Avoiding strong smells is also important while you are going through the morning sickness phase as well. Your sense of smell is more sensitive while you are pregnant and any offensive smell might make you nauseous even if you dont have morning sickness, but if you do watch out.
Tip #5 Avoid Greasy Foods
Dont eat greasy foods or large helping of foods either. When you do that you are more likely to have heartburn and an increased level of nausea. Try to stick to low fat and high protein foods and eat many small meals per day rather than a few large ones.
There are a lot of other tips to help you deal with your morning sickness as well. Some women benefit from drinking ginger ale and others cant stand it. Basically, you should do what your body tells you and you will be ok. It might be hard to deal with, but you will get through it!
