Healthy & Fun Snacks For Toddlers

Toddlers can be quite picky when it comes to food, which makes moms and dads a little bit crazy. However, there are plenty of ways to get your toddler to eat that are healthy and nourishing not to mention a lot of fun!

PBJ Shape Sandwiches

Choose whole wheat bread, low sugar jelly and natural peanut butter to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich. Then, give your toddler a cookie cutter of his choosing and allow him to cut the sandwich out in that shape. He will think it is so much fun to help and to make a cool star shaped sandwich, or whatever shape cookie cutter you have. This is fun and healthy, and quite fast to make!

Fruit Salad

Cut up grapes, apples, peaches and bananas and layer in a plastic bowl or cup with vanilla yogurt. Your toddler will love this fruit parfait that is just his size. Allow him to help you make it by layering the fruit and he will be especially proud of his accomplishment and will gobble it down!

Ants on a Log

Take celery and fill with peanut butter or cream cheese. Then, sprinkle raisins on top. Don’t be surprised if your toddler only eats the filling and completely avoids the celery. In time, they will likely take a bite of the celery and really like it. In the meantime, if they just eat the filling they are still getting a healthy snack!

Smoothie

Kids love to make things and toddlers will especially enjoy making a smoothie for their snack. Allow them to choose the fruit they want in their smoothie and then let them drop it in the blender. They will have fun making their smoothie and may even think it is a milkshake. They will get calcium from the yogurt and plenty of vitamins from all the fruit. Feel free to drop some veggies in, too, because they probably won’t notice!

The best snacks are ones your toddler will eat. There are plenty of recipe books on the market that are geared specifically to toddlers, so check them out. You may find that cooking and preparing snacks for your toddler is much easier than you ever imagined.
