Health And Nutrition During The Second Trimester

While you are pregnant you have probably heard all kinds of things about eating healthy during your pregnancy. This is incredibly important because your unborn child is depending on you for the nutrition he needs. So make a habit of choosing healthy foods that will benefit your baby rather than foods that have no nutritional value. If you are worried about health and nutrition during the second trimester then you should follow these tips when eating.

Limit the Sugar
As good as sugary foods are they are not healthy and they can add to the waistline faster than you want. When you are pregnant you need to watch how much weight you gain because it can increase your odds for gestational diabetes, hemorrhoids, and other ailments you might not want. So, have dessert once in a while, but not every single day!

Plenty of Fiber
Fiber is really important during the second trimester because it helps ease bowel movements. During the second trimester constipation is very common and it can be incredibly uncomfortable. But if you follow a diet with plenty of fiber you shouldnt have too many problems with constipation.

Fruits and Veggies
Eat all the fruits and veggies you want while pregnant. If you have a sweet tooth then there are all kinds of sweet fruits that will satisfy your cravings. Vegetables are good and filling and you can eat a wide variety to ensure your baby is getting all the different nutrients.

Low Fat
While a big, greasy cheeseburger from your favorite fast food joint might be a daily pregnancy craving it is not one that you should give into. Once a month is ok, but certainly not on a regular basis. Try eating a low fat diet to help you gain on the recommended amount of eight while pregnant.

Enjoy skim milk dairy products while you are pregnant. You need all the calcium you can get and so does your baby!

These food recommendations will help you on your pregnancy diet if you are willing to follow them.
