Feeding Your Toddler - Finger Food Favorites
Toddlers eat with their fingers frequently, even if you keep giving them a fork. Don’t worry, it won’t be too long before they begin eating everything with a fork. However, in the meantime when they are eating with their fingers try to give them finger foods that they will enjoy and that are easy for mom to prepare!
Grilled Cheese
Buy some whole wheat bread without any hydrogenated oils or high fructose corn syrup. Then, buy some all-natural or organic American cheese slices. Make a regular grilled cheese using regular butter rather than margarine. Your child will have a wonderful sandwich with whole grains and calcium without any of the bad additives. You will feel great knowing you are feeding your child something healthy that they love to pick up and eat so much! Add tomatoes or even some ham or turkey if possible.
English Muffin Pizza
Kids love pizza and this is a great way to help your little one get fiber, whole grains, vegetables, and calcium. Take a whole grain English muffin and slice in half. Spread some pizza or spaghetti sauce on the bread and then sprinkle with low skim mozzarella. Bake in the oven or toaster oven until the cheese is melted. Cut in quarters and watch your toddler devour!
Chicken Nuggets
Most toddlers love chicken nuggets, however many moms avoid them because of the ingredients. Fortunately, you may now buy all white meat chicken nuggets and you can even find all natural nuggets or organic nuggets. If you can’t in your local grocery, simply buy organic chicken breast and cut them off and make a breading yourself. Bake them until they are done and your toddler will thank you.
Ravioli
Little fingers love ravioli. The pasta is stuffed with things like cheese, spinach, beef, chicken, carrots, and more. You will love feeding your toddler something healthy that they love to eat.
