Do Parents Homeschool For Religious Reasons?

With the rise in homeschooling across the country many individuals wonder what the motivating factor behind homeschooling is. There are many motivating factors, actually, but one of the most popular is for religious reasons. The vast majority of individuals homeschooling for religious reasons are doing so to teach their children Christian values and principles. However, there has been a rise in Muslim families homeschooling for religious reasons. The same goes for Jews and other religions as well.

Homeschooling for religious reasons was responded by approximately 33% of the families across the nation for the main reason they homeschool. It really is a good reason for those families who want to raise their child in a certain religion because that simply cant be done well in the public school system. Religion is not allowed in that forum and many kids dont have any religious background whatsoever. They can be a bad influence on other children who are being raised with a certain faith, make fun of them, and challenge their faith.

While religious adults must deal with this all the time, children rebel against religion frequently if they feel it is what causes them to not have friends or be popular. Because of this many parents choose to raise their children in a controlled environment. They know what their children are learning and who they are learning it from. Parents arent concerned about their children watching porn on the Internet or seeing it in a magazine from another child at public school because their child is at home. Additionally, parents have control over social situations and interactions. This means that they can help their child choose Christian, Muslim, Jewish, etc., friends that are a good influence.

Raising children is certainly a challenge and trying to raise children with a certain faith can be even more challenging. However, it is certainly possible with a little dedication from the parents and the child. Of course, children will still get into trouble and do inappropriate things, but parents have much more control over their children and what they are learning than if they were in a public school atmosphere.
