Coping With Stress During The Second Trimester

Coping with stress during the second trimester of pregnancy can be, in many ways, a much easier task than it tends to be during the first trimester of pregnancy or during the third trimester of pregnancy. Coupled with the fact that the second trimester of pregnancy tends to have less stress with which to cope in general, and most women find that the second trimester can be something of a breeze.

Still, just because your morning sickness and fatigue that plagued you during the first trimester are gone doesn’t mean that you don’t have any stress. There is quite a bit to be done during the second trimester. If you work outside of the home, for example, it is likely that you are still working at your job. In addition, you are needing to make plans for not only the labor and delivery experience, but for having the baby in yoru home as well. This stress can impact your pregnancy in a negative way, both in terms of directly causing problems and indirectly causing problems.

To cope with stress during the second trimester, there are some things that you can do. The first thing that you need to do to cope with stress during the second trimester is to relax. There will be time enough for everything. Sit down, take a few minutes to breathe, and to think about the good things in your life. Take a relaxing bath, or read a good book. Just slow down from the hectic pace of modern life for a little while.

Exercise is another great tool for coping with stress during the second trimester. While you will still need to avoid certain sports and exercises, such as those that pose a threat of abdominal trauma, getting a little bit of moderate exercise can not only help to reduce your stress level during the second trimester, it can also help to prepare your body for the child birthing experience, and put you on the track to losing weight after your baby is born.

If you are having a difficult time coping with stress during the second trimester, you should be willing to ask for outside help, whether it is from a therapist, a health care provider, or even just a trusted friend. Coping with stress early so that it doesn’t become dangerous is important, not only during the second trimester, but any time at all.
